The Run For Recovery (R4R) is made up of a 5K run and a 1 mile fun walk.  Keeneland has been our host for 25 years.  We look forward to seeing you again this year.  This years' R4R will be on Saturday, July 27th, 2024.

History of the Run:

Leroy Sanborn, a graduate of the Shepherd's House, took up running in the late 90’s and after many successes in running - like running the the Boston Marathon twice - Leroy persuaded the Shepherd’s House to start the Run for Recovery in 2000. It was LeRoy’s way of giving back to the Shepherd’s House and the community. Leroy was a wonderful example of a restored life with help from the Shepherd’s House.

Many of Lexington and Central Kentucky’s running clubs will be represented.  Many of our participants are local runners or walkers, who just come out to enjoy a leisurely run or walk. Many people bring their children and we are pet friendly.  So, please come on out - support recovery in Central KY.  The proceeds allow many men and women, who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity, to come to the Shepherd's House and begin their road to recovery.
